INTRO

The Divina Commedia, a narrative poem penned between 1306 and 1321, is hailed as one of the most significant literary works ever created. This masterpiece takes readers on a transformative journey as Dante traverses Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, accompanied by three guides representing Reason, Grace, and Glory.

Dante’s Inferno is the first part of this epic poem which follows Dante as he journeys through Hell, led by the spirit of the ancient Roman poet Virgil.

CANTO XXXIV – Lucifer

With the words “vexilla regis prodeunt inferni,” Virgil announces their imminent arrival to the fourth and final layer named Judecca, after Judas Iscariot. In the foggy darkness, Dante glimpses a huge structure, which turns out to be Lucifer, the Emperor of Hell.
